Mobile Blog Posting with Picture Attachments...(the SuperGeek way)
IT WORKED...!!!
I amaze myself sometimes...
HaHa
O.K. so here's the scoop how I did it...
(since I won't be a d!@% and keep it all too myself...ha)
I have this Blog (obviously if you are reading this, ha)
And I figured why couldn't I use the mobile "always in my pocket" internet connection, to update my site..?
Good idea, right..? But how you ask..?
Here's How I did it:
I have a Centro with Power Vision service through Sprint.
&
I run Drupal to manage the content on my Site with the Mailhandler module installed.
It is setup with a "special email" address I created for this sites blog.
I got that working well right "out of the box".
But then I found Mailhandler took the email text and added it to the blog page just fine, but it
didn't handle file attachments...just text only. :(
So as I looked through the settings I noticed I could set the default input to Full HTML.
And a light went on in my head...
How about an FTP program for PALM OS..?! That way I could upload Pictures (and/or anything else on the phone) to my server.
But could such a thing exist..?
So after a Google search or two I found EzFTP.
and it's FREE !
Awesome...
So I downloaded it and installed it. And upon a quick setup in the preferences I connected to my server,
and I uploaded the picture featured in the previous post.
(which is also pic I use for my background on my phone and Mac Mini, cause I'm a macgeek.:)
Then, I tried sending in a test email using basic html to post the pic...and wouldn't ya know IT WORKED...!!! muhahahaha
So Now, I can post blogs from anywhere I get a Sprint signal...with just text, or
I can snap pics of whatever I want, wherever I am, and upload them from my phone to
a certain directory on my site, immediately if necessary.
And then simply email in html code to input the image source, and say what I want to say in the post.
And Voila..! Mailhandler handled the rest. (no pun intended) ha.
Thats my solution to Website Editing on the road, and I'm sure it will work out nicely for future blogs. ;)
Niice... I know.
Applause is not necessary but I appreciate your enthusiasm...
haha
If this helps anyone please comment so I know about it...
Til the Next Webisode...
Wow! That's amazing! Now if I just had a bad a** enough phone I could do something like that too! Muahahahaha! lol
But really. Kuddo's to figuring all that out! :)
